In brief
This policy describes the website's online identification. In the iPhone app, photos are analysed locally after a country pack has been downloaded. Website identification requires the photo to be sent to our identification service.
What do we collect?
An uploaded photo is sent to the model, classified and then discarded. It is not written to disk or used to train the model.
The selected municipality, date and context weight are saved anonymously with the model's suggested species, confidence and submission time. These records support the recent online identification list. A suggestion is not a verified sighting.
What do we not collect?
The identification service does not record IP addresses, browser fingerprints, account details or GPS and EXIF data from photos. There is no login. Anonymous identifications are not linked to a user.
Cookies and local storage
We remember your consent choices and any optional preferences. No analytics, marketing or tracking scripts are enabled on this website. Optional services may only be enabled with consent. You can change your choices using the cookie settings button.
Storage and retention
Anonymous identifications are stored in a private SQLite database on Hugging Face Spaces. They have no fixed expiry date; the database can be reset. Uploaded photos are not stored.
Data sources
Training photos are freely licensed CC0 or CC-BY images from GBIF and iNaturalist. The model was not trained on Naturbasen photos or photos visitors upload here.
Danish geographic and seasonal context uses observation facts from Naturbasen. Each field guide species page lists its relevant sources and any photograph credits.
