Distribution

The species is declining rapidly. In the past, small pearl-bordered fritillary was found throughout the country, but the species is disappearing from Funen and Zealand, where it has vanished from many known locations.

Biology

Very flower-visiting, and often rests with its wings spread in the vegetation. The eggs are laid on or near violets, which is where the larvae live.
